McKenna Mae Oldroyd
McKenna Mae Oldroyd joined our family Saturday October 23, 2010 at 8:37 P.M. Finally... I know I was only 37 1/2 weeks, but when you have one early and you are borderline preeclampsia it feels like you wait forever. Especially since I was having contractions at the same time each night for almost 2 weeks. Friday night I didn't get woke up with contractions and most of the day was calm. I was thinking "this is the calm before the storm. When I woke up Saturday morning to rain/snow I knew it was coming. Most of the day was pretty calm with few contractions. The night before Brooklynn said a prayer that I would have the baby later the next day. (She had a birthday party she really wanted to go to.) I dropped her off at the party and the contractions were getting harder. Not but 30 minutes after I picked her up, I knew we should go to the hospital.
We got there around 3ish and I was only a 3+, great, they are going to send me home again. So we waited the hour and surprise I was a 4. The nurse thought my doctor was out of town and I started crying. I now wanted to be sent home cause I didn't want a different doctor. Luckily she called and he was around. About 6:30 I got the epidural and then the on-call doc broke my water and said I was still a 4. Even though I had the epidural I was still feeling the contractions. I knew once they broke my water I would start dilating. About an hour later I told the nurse that I was feeling a lot of pressure and she checked and I was a 9. It went so fast. They called my doctor and didn't even have me start pushing until he got there. With Cameron I pushed about 45 minutes and this time it was only 2 and she was out. My heart rate did the same but didn't go to 170 like with Cam just 160. Things went well and I was glad it was an easy delivery.
When I saw her I knew she was tiny, but didn't realize how small. She was 5 lbs. 14 oz. and 18 1/2 inches long. I was sad that her new going home outfit would fit her, luckily I packed a preemie outfit just in case. I felt like it was deja vu. She looked so much like Cameron. Once you take the hat off she looks different, but you can tell they are related. The top picture is Cameron and bottom is McKenna.
A very happy Big Sister, loves the new baby.
After exploring the hospital room and pushing a bunch of buttons, Cam snuggled little sis. too.
Grandma Bean with her 6th Grandchild.
Grandma Oldroyd holding her 16th Grandchild.
Family of 5.
Leaving the hospital. What a teensy thing.
